Affectionately known as the People’s Palace, San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco and a destination historic landmark. Designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., this Beaux-Arts building originally opened in 1915 as a monument to the City Beautiful movement.

Today, its elegant adornments and stately presence make it the crown jewel of San Francisco event venues. From the lavish Rotunda and its ornate Grand Staircase, to the naturally luminous North and South Light Courts, San Francisco City Hall is the perfect backdrop for galas, weddings, dinners and celebrations.

Additional Information

San Francisco City Hall is a spacious and elegant venue with a number of areas available to rent for a wide variety of events, including weddings, galas, receptions, dinners and celebrations. It is primarily a municipal office building, our facility does not have support rooms or many other amenities typically found at conference centers. A limited number of support rooms may be available depending on other scheduled building activity.

San Francisco City Hall is conveniently located near public transportation, parking and dining and is situated between the Civic Center Plaza, the Asian Art Museum and the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center.  There is a parking garage underneath the Civic Center Plaza; the entrance is on McAllister Street, between Polk (also called Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place on that block) and Larkin. City Hall is also close to the Civic Center station, where both BART and Muni stop.
